Green Light For New Car Park In Town

A NEW car park can be created in Winterton after plans were given the go-ahead by councillors.

North Lincolnshire Council's planning committee discussed the scheme, brought forward by the Richtoy Motorsport business, at its latest meeting.

The project will see the change of use of an area of Queen Street behind the town's Tesco Express store to form the private car park, for Richtoy staff and customers. It will also include a boundary wall and fence.

Planning agent Jon Bayley, speaking on behalf of Richtoy, said it was a well-established and respected company which had invested heavily in the town.

He said seven letters had been sent to the council to back the plan and that it also had the support of Winterton Town Council.

And he said Richtoy understood the concerns of six residents who had written to oppose the plan.

Ward councillors Elaine Marper and Helen Rowson both raised concerns regarding the narrowness of Queen Street and a possible safety implication for parents and children going to and from the nearby Winterton Junior School.

Committee members voted to grant permission for the car park, in line with the recommendation of planning officers.
